Libraries With Heart

We're excited to share some important updates as we enhance our commitment to community health and safety! With the planning of our new event center, ensuring the well-being of everyone who interacts with us is at the forefront of our efforts. We took a significant step by applying for a grant to acquire an AED machine. We're thrilled to announce that not only did we secure this essential equipment, but our library team is now fully certified in First Aid, CPR, and the use of AEDs! This achievement marks a huge milestone for us and reinforces our dedication to safety. But our journey doesn't stop here! We've also obtained funding for a comprehensive CPR training kit, complete with 20 dummies, training DVDs, and a manual—a fantastic resource that allows us to train up to 40 individuals at a time. We envision vibrant collaborations with our Water Rescue team, the YMCA, local schools, and youth organizations like the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to bring these training sessions to life. In addition to training, we're introducing proactive health measures that empower our community. We now have a blood pressure station and cuffs available for checkout, enabling everyone to monitor their health conveniently from home. This initiative has great potential to enhance our community's overall well-being. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our incredible partners: the American Heart Association, Ashtabula Foundation, Signature Health, and University Hospitals. Your support has been invaluable! We look forward to making a lasting impact together!

Congrats Wombats! Congratulations to our Wombat Graduates! We held a special research study this October & November that featured the PBS show "Work It Out Wombats". Children and their caregivers attended library programs, completed activities at home, and learned how to break it down using Computational Thinking, or CT.

Thank you for helping us complete this program and congratulations! Book Clubs
