“GO NATIVE”

Want to help butterflies? Learn how at your local library in April. Lunch is on us!

Monarch butterfly and bee populations are declining, and it is easy to feel like little can be done to make a difference. However, even small efforts like planting milkweed and other native plants in yards or surrounding fields or woodlands can have a real impact because these are the plants that butterflies, bees, and other important insects rely on for food and to lay their eggs.

Ashtabula County Master Gardeners will provide information about how to improve insect habitat during presentations at every public library in Ashtabula County during the month of April. Practical information on how to get started, how to choose plants for specific insects, and where to find the right plants will be offered. In addition, most libraries will also be showing a beautiful, awe-inspiring nature film that will provide additional information for anyone who wants to do more for our six-legged friends.

A free lunch will be provided!
